Major Responsibilities:
Responsible for ensuring the accuracy of accounting and adherence to policies by third party property managers for multiple real estate holdings in daily close real estate funds.
Reviews monthly accounting and reporting of joint venture investments and ensures appropriate conversion to fair value accounting and upload to internal accounting system.
Reviews standard fund-level accounting entries and ensures they are in compliance with GAAP and internal guidelines.
Accounts for real estate and debt acquisitions, dispositions, and financing transactions.
Reviews the work of staff accountants and assists in resolving issues.
Partners across business lines within the organization, including, but not limited to, Acquisitions and Dispositions, Asset Management, Portfolio Management, SEC Reporting and Sox.
Ensures compliance with SOX and other internal procedures and helps to maintain a sound internal control environment.
Documents system controls and procedures, with a focus on continuous improvement.
May be involved in debt fund and other new product launches.
Required Skills:
BA in Accounting
5+ years accounting experience
3+ years of experience with GAAP
All candidates must be eligible to work in the United States on a permanent, full-time basis.
Preferred Skills:
Real Estate accounting experience
CPA or working toward license
Supervisory experience
Yardi
Financial statement preparation and review
High level of proficiency with Excel
Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and conceptual skills
Self-directed, self-starter, and motivated with the ability to work with minimal supervision
Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks
Excellent communication ( written and oral), with senior leaders and peers, facilitation, interpersonal and collaborative skills
